Who are the courses accredited by?

Our courses are accredited by NCC Education. NCC Education was established by the British Government in 1966 and is now a global provider and awarding body of British education.

The company provides students with the opportunity to gain internationally recognised British qualifications.

NCC Education is regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) and have qualifications listed on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) in England.

Is the training online or face to face?

JHD offers a range of courses, including online courses and tutor led blended courses.

At this time we offer the Level 1 as an online course, study at your own pace course, and also an online tutor led course via Zoom.

Our level 2 is also an online tutor led course via weekly zoom sessions.

Our level 3 and 4 courses take on a blended approach. Sessions will be a mix of tutor led via zoom sessions and face to face sessions at our training centre in Cambridge.

Cambridge is extremely accessible via car, train and bus.

Please can you tell me more about the venue for the face to face sessions, and can you park onsite?

Our venue for the 2021/22 academic year is: Madingley Hall, Madingley, Cambridge, CB23 8AQ. Website: https://www.madingleyhall.co.uk/

What experience do I need to join a course?

Some of our courses require little or no experience. Details are contained within each course page

How many hours of study are required?

The amount of study time differs for each course. Please visit our course pages for more information.

Do you have to complete a placement?

A requirement of the Level 4 course is to gain 100 supervised client hours whilst on placement. This is an important part of the training as you can experience what it is like to sit in the clients shoes, and also gain experience of working as a counsellor whilst still studying. You will not complete the Level 4 course until all 100 hours have been completed.

Progression routes, what is the difference between the options?

JHD offers all the courses needed to become a fully qualified counsellor.

We ask that all students start at the Level 1 course, and then progress onto the Level 2, Level 3 and then finally the level 4. We do offer fast track options for some of our courses. Theses courses cover the same content but are completed quicker by including either Saturdays or full day study, rather than evening study.

JHD is more than happy to take students from other training centres as long as the previous place of study has provided adequate training.

If you would like to ask any questions about the courses and progression routes please contact our training administrator, Sarah, on 078716 71428 or secretary@jhdcounselling.co.uk

Do you need to have personal therapy whilst studying?

JHD students are required to complete a minimum of 10 hours personal therapy. JHD does provide in-house therapy at a discount for JHD students as we understand training to become a counsellor can be expensive and we want to support you where possible.

What are the costs involved?

The costs vary for each course and CPD. Please view the course and CPD pages to find out more about the fees and payment options.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

We really hope that you do not need to leave one of our courses and we would suggest firstly speaking with your tutor to see what support we can offer you. However, we completely understand that sometimes life does not go to plan and you may need to cancel.

If you are paying in instalments we just ask you pay up to the point of leaving, and the deposit you paid before starting the course is non-refundable.

If you paid up front for the course we can refund for the study that has not yet taken place but the deposit is non-refundable.

Please contact our finance manager, Lauren, on hr@jhdcounselling.co.uk if you would like to discuss anything further.
